Hector has served as a Deputy Sheriff for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for 16 years.
He began his career at age 21 and served his community until April 2025, when he was diagnosed with stage 4 Burkitt’s Lymphoma, which caused a spinal cord injury, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down.
He has spent over 100 days at OHSU in Portland, Oregon and his future is uncertain, but he is working every day to get back home to his wife Alexandra and their 3 children, ages 20, 11, and 5.
Hector hopes he can one day continue serving the community that he loves.
