Dear Brothers & Sisters of IBEW Local 659,
It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that one of our Brothers Ursal Miller lost his oldest son Cory Miller on Thursday, December 23, 2021. Ursal is a Journeyman Lineman at Pacific Power and Light in Medford, Oregon, and an active IBEW Local 659 member, since November 6, 2004.
On December 14th Cory was taken to the ER and had a couple of emergency surgeries over the following eleven (11) days in ICU with many ups and downs before passing. No matter what Cory went through that didn’t stop him from being the light of this family. They are thankful for the years they had and the many memories; he truly was their family’s superhero!!
Losing a child around Christmas must be the hardest, but knowing that Christmas was Cory’s favorite time of the year, makes it even more unbearable. Cory was their world; their everything; he was so caring, loving, kind and happy. Cory was a blessing and miracle from the day he was born defying all odds in his time here with us. Cory was born with Down Syndrome, Eisenmenger Syndrome and three (3) months premature, he fought for his existence in the NICU for almost five (5) months. Doctors didn’t think he would make it home but he did and he thrived. Cory would be celebrating his 21st birthday on Wednesday, December 29th.
Cory leaves behind his mom Criquette, whom has been his caregiver and nurse since the day he was born. His dad Ursal, whom has been his #1 protector, fighter and fan, as well as his younger siblings, two (2) brothers Ethan and Sam and his sister Lilly.
The Jim McLean Memorial Brotherhood Fund, along with friends and family started this fundraiser (100% of the money raised goes to the family) to help cover the cost of medical expenses, funeral expenses and any other unexpected cost, so the family can take the time they need to grieve and heal. This family is devastated by their loss, so we are reaching out to the IBEW Community to please consider donating if you can, as any amount will truly help.
Thank you so much for your consideration,
Family, Friends and IBEW Local Union 659 Executive Board and Staff
