The Valley Labor Report is the largest union radio program in the South. A majority of our funding comes from unions, but a significant minority of our funding - indeed, the largest single source of funding - comes from our listeners.
Because of our reliance on listener funding, we need to do fundraising campaigns like this occasionally, on something of an annual basis. This year, we’ve set a goal of $10,000. This will increase the portion of our funding coming from listeners, replace some sponsorships that have fallen off, and help us maintain. We’re setting a stretch goal of $15,000 too - if we can reach that, this will further stabilize the project and we might even be able to get on another radio station with the funding. Additionally - the project employs 4 people on a part time basis doing behind the scenes work like operating the board, and audio and video post production work - and we’d like to give them a raise (they do a great job don’t they folks??)
We’ve got some really cool prizes for donations and an award for reaching the stretch goal that we think everyone will like - so please, make a donation if you can! We’ll run this campaign through November 23.
What was the most viewed video on TVLR's Youtube Channel? Sean O Brien SCHOOLS Corporate Media on UPS Strike, in which we take a look at some of the Teamster President's video appearances making a powerful case for UPS Teamsters to get a fair contract (his media appearances recently have been much worse! Jacob also had a [very good looking!] handle bar mustache in this video)
What was the most controversial video on TVLR's YouTube Channel? Letter Carrier EXCITED About Trump, Leaving Us CONFUSED, in which we talk to a Trump supporting letter carrier. We got a lot of backlash from commenters on that one, but more generally during our NALC / USPS coverage it appears we've picked up some more conservative union folks from the postal service - which is great! Remember that's a big reason we're on the radio. But they've been less than enthused about our coverage of Trump. Here's hoping they stick around!
