Danny Avelyn became a Teamsters Local 41 member in 1979 working for a cartage company in Kansas City, Missouri. He began working for Consolidated Freightways in 1984 and transferred to Omaha, Nebraska in 1992.

Danny served as a Local 554 shop steward from 1992 to 2002  until he became a local union business agent.  He was elected Local 554 Vice President and became principal officer in 2014.

Additionally, he serves on the board of the  MO-KAN-NE Conference of Teamsters,  is the Central Region OTR chairman for the freight division, and is the President of Joint Council 56.
