Cory Miller - Assist Family

If you've ever met Cory, you know he is the person who shows up when others need him. He is a proud Army Drill Sergeant, and an incredible father to his two children, CJ and Willow. Being a Drill Sergeant has been his dream job, and he has poured his heart into mentoring and shaping the next generation of Soldiers.

Today, Cory is facing the toughest battle of his life. In early May, his family's world was turned upside down when doctors discovered a lesion in Cory's brain affecting his brainstem. What followed has been a whirlwind of hospital stays, MRIs, spinal taps, specialist appointments, countless tests, and even a brain biopsy. Despite everything, they are still searching for answers. On May 5th, they received news that no family should ever have to hear: Cory was likely dying. In a matter of moments, their future became uncertain. His wife had to sit down with their children, CJ and Willow, and explain that there was a possibility they could lose their dad. There are no words to describe the heartbreak of watching children face that reality.

Since that day, their lives have been consumed by fear, hope, uncertainty, and determination. Every new test brings more questions. Every appointment carries the possibility of answers. Through it all, Cory continues to fight with the same strength, courage, and resilience that made him a Soldier and leader. He is not fighting for himself alone. He is fighting to continue being the dad who makes CJ laugh, who cheers on every milestone, who gives Willow the biggest hugs, and who dreams of watching both of his children grow into adults. He is fighting for more family dinners, more holidays, more birthdays, and more memories that they all took for granted before this journey began.
